Building 32 - Vacuum Chambers
at the
Space Environment Systems Laboratory

This is Building 32 where the two large vacuum chambers are housed.
This is the largest of the two.  The door is so well balanced that it is easily closed with one or two people.
The Lunar Landers, satellites, and many other hardware have been tested in here.
It has been used to test the inflatable balloons for the Beagle Lander on Mars since it is so tall and allowed the drop necessary.
This is the smaller of the two chanbers.
This one can be used to allow suited astronauts to go in and out of equipment since it can be re-pressurized and opened in a hurry in an emergency.
This is one of the the very powerful 'sun lamps' used to simulate the Sun's radiation inside the chambers.
This is the inside of the smaller chamber that is currently being used to test Shuttle tile repairs.
The Sun lamp from the front.
A better view of the smaller chamber.
This is a suit pack EMU unit.
Here is the crowd as we returned to the Gilruth Visitors Center upon completion of the fabulous tour.
