This is our JSCAS group that decided to join Al Kelly at his remote dark sky site in Dansiger.  Not everyone could be herded into the photo, but this is most.  We had a wonderful time enjoying the heavenly delights through Al's 32 inch scope.  CLICK HERE for a 4.5 meg animation showing the action during the night.

Friday night dinner at the Fort under the stars.  It doesn't get much better...

Speaking of sunsets, this one is on my mountain top in Cloudcroft New Mexico.  I have the Mewlon set up in the SkyTent and the refractor set up outside.
This shot is to the North at about 1:30 am after a major solar CME that created a little aurora coloring in the sky.  I saw reds and greens moving in the North.
Another aurora shot.
Here is my Takahashi FCT-150 refractor at the George Observatory observation deck waiting for the Saturday night star party.

Here is both of my setups at the George Observatory on August 17, 2002.   Loyd and I went to video the close pass of asteroid 2002 NY40 that evening.
Last night, 2/22/03, Dolly and I went to the NHAC (North Houston Astronomy Club) observing site near Cleveland for some visual work.  I had previously arranged with Paul Downing to let me "borrow" his NJP mount for a hour or so to compare my new Mewlon to my FCT-150 refractor on the planets.  Dolly and I got there a little early to do some walking and enjoy the weather.
We had a really nice evening of viewing until the dew was running off of the scopes like they had broken water pipes in them. Anyway, we had a great evening and I got the comparison done on my scopes.   Both scopes are great of course, but doubling the aperture definitely has its benefits.
Here I am at the George Observatory on 1/31/03 getting "First Light" on my new Mewlon 300 Takahashi telescope.  Photo courtesy of Loyd Overcash.
Here is another of the same.  Notice Orion above the scope.
